Moose & Otto

Kaylyn, has always had a deep love of nature and animals. She stumbled into dog grooming in 2004 while volunteering as a reptile handler for a local non profit and working as a cashier at Petco in Arizona. She completed the 8 week dog grooming academy under a Master groomer, and also began apprenticing as a dog trainer. Within a couple years she was managing a salon for Petco in Chandler, Az and became an academy instructor. In 2008 she was selected to relocate to Hawaii and open the first locations in the islands.

She branched out and opened her own small shop in Waimea, HI alongside AinaHou Animal Hospital. She sold her shop and moved to Germany when she married her husband Phil.

After a few years away from grooming, she started up again in Seattle, working a local salon. When her family relocated to Corvallis in 2018, she opened a small home based salon, Mindful Grooming.

She moonlighted at Wilco for a few months in 2019, where she met Jennifer Austin. This was when the idea of Good Dog was born.

Kaylyn has spent her nearly 2 decade career continuing to further her education in all areas. She is passionate about working WITH dogs. She specializes in animal behavior, rehabilitation and training. Her goal is to teach and train more groomers in the Mindful Grooming approach.

When not at the salon, you may run into her and her dogs , Moose, Otto and Stuart out on a local hiking trail or at a campground enjoying nature with her family. She loves to cook, travel, explore, create , and have a good time with friends.
